Daejeon Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (CEO Park Dae Hee) is taking the lead in fostering local foreign entrepreneurs and supporting growth.
On the 17th, the Daejeon Center for Creative Economy & Innovation announced that it has successfully completed the “2023 Foreign Entrepreneurship Education Support Project (Start Small, Aim High).”
The “2023 Foreign Entrepreneurship Education Support Project” was conducted for the first time with a focus on creating local jobs and revitalizing the economy by supporting foreign start-up activities, and actively supported foreign start-ups through △ start-up education (basic/deepening) △ two-day intensive coaching △ competition.
Thirty-six foreigners from 15 countries (the United States, Canada, Uzbekistan, Nigeria, Mexico, Zimbabwe, Russia, Ghana, Iran, and Pakistan) participated in the program, and most of them were foreigners living in Yuseong-gu and from KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology).
Basic education for local foreigners (△Team Building △ Basic training for start-ups △ coaching experts △ Semi-Final Presentation △ Start-up Idea Contest) and in-depth education (△ Special lecture on start-ups △ In-depth training on start-ups △ coaching experts △ Special lecture on visa acquisition △ Founder’s Talk △ Start-up Idea Contest) were also conducted to select six outstanding teams based on start-up items supplemented through mentoring.
□ □ The Daejeon Center for Creative Economy & Innovation is seeking follow-up support measures by linking 1:1 meetings with foreign investors at the 2023 Startup Korea Investment Week (SIW) held last month for foreigners participating in the program.
□ □ “I wanted to challenge myself to start a business in Korea, but it was difficult to find a program that foreigners could participate in,” said Chibisova Tatiana, a participant in the program and graduate student at KAIST. “It was good to get a lot of useful information related to start-ups through this foreign start-up education, and I hope that many education and events related to foreign start-ups will be held in the future.”
CEO Park Dae Hee said, “This program was just a small start, but it was a meaningful time to check the necessity, possibility, and direction of foreign start-up support in the future,” adding, “We are planning to create a one-stop foreign start-up special zone in the area of Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, and we plan to strengthen cooperation with related organizations and diversify support measures to revitalize foreign start-ups in the future.”
