Apple’s iPhone 15, Sales Fall 4.5% In China Compared to iPhone 14…behind Huawei

Apple’s new smartphone iPhone 15 series sells less than the 14 series in China.

According to Counterpoint Research, a market analysis agency, on the 16th (local time), sales of the iPhone 15 series in China for 17 days after its launch fell 4.5% from the iPhone 14 series in the same period last year.

The iPhone 15 series was first released on the 12th of last month and was released in China on the 22nd of the same month.

Analysts at investment bank Jefferies also analyzed that sales of the iPhone 15 are expected to decrease by double digits compared to its previous model.

These organizations assessed that the sluggish sales of iPhones were the worst since 2018, when Chinese smartphone companies Oppo and Vivo products became very popular.

This is in contrast to the increase in smartphone sales in China from last year, the organizations explained.

Sales of smartphones in China are expected to increase as sales of Android phones such as Huawei and Xiaomi show double-digit growth.

Counterpoint Research diagnosed in a report that the iPhone gave Huawei the No. 1 market share due to sluggish sales.

He also predicted, “Global shipments of iPhone 15 this year are smaller than expected due to weak demand in China, and if this trend continues, sales will be slower than Huawei next year.”

Huawei’s new smartphone “Mate 60 Series” released in August is gaining huge popularity in China.

However, it was estimated that the iPhone 15 series is more popular than its predecessor in the U.S., the largest iPhone market.

Counterpoint Research said the iPhone 15 in the U.S. is estimated to have posted a double-digit increase year-on-year in the first nine days of sales.

“Currently, new iPhone products are popular in the United States,” the research said. “This is a positive sign of the world’s largest iPhone market and will ease the sluggishness in China.”
