SK Hynix is playing a major role in the artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor field. In an article titled “The stock price of SK Hynix, NVIDIA’s artificial intelligence (AI) chip partner, is soaring,” he said, “The hardware that drives the AI craze is most closely connected to NVIDIA, and NVIDIA’s ‘H100’ processor is in a special memory chip that enables AI applications to calculate immediately.”HBM is a product that increases data processing speed compared to existing DRAMs by connecting several DRAMs vertically. WSJ said, “SK Hynix has long been a major company in the memory chip field, but it has not been considered a pioneer in the semiconductor industry,” adding, “We bet on HBM more actively than our competitors 10 years ago, and with the emergence of AI applications that utilize high-bandwidth memory.” Reflecting this, SK Hynix’s stock price has risen about 60% this year. It explained that the latest 4th generation version provides industry-leading data transmission efficiency and calorific value by stacking 8 existing DRAMs. SK Hynix announced on the 21st that it has developed ‘HBM3E’ that processes data of more than 230 full HD movies in one second.SK Hynix predicted in April that HBM sales will grow by more than 50% this year. Citigroup analysts predicted that AI demand will account for 41% of global DRAM sales from 16% this year to 21% in 2025.However, there are also questions about whether SK Hynix can continue to take the lead. WSJ said, “Samsung Electronics is expected to catch up with SK Hynix as it plans to double HBM production by 2024 from this year through aggressive investment.” “Industry experts, however, say SK hynix is the company that can best meet NVIDIA’s requirements,” it added.
