Gucci names De Sarno as creative director2023-01-30 (reuters) STORY: French luxury group Kering has appointed Sabato De Sarno as creative director at its top brand Gucci. He will be tasked with reviving the fortunes of a label that accounted for two-thirds of Kering’s profits in 2021, but has since been losing momentum. The 39-year-old began his career at Prada, before moving to Dolce & Gabbana and then Valentino. There he was appointed the brand’s fashion director, overseeing both men’s and women’s collections. In Kering’s statement, De Sarno said he was proud to join a house with ‘extraordinary history and heritage’. Gucci had been under pressure to appoint someone to one of the top jobs in fashion after the abrupt departure in November of former creative chief Alessandro Michele. It has been lagging rivals including Hermes and LVMH’s top brand Louis Vuitton, with its performance in the key Chinese market becoming a concern for investors. That’s one factor that has made Kering the worst performer among major luxury stocks, and investors apparently remain to be convinced. Shares in the firm were down around half a percent early Monday (January 30) following the weekend news of De Sarno’s appointment.ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsApp Previous articleSeremban Sessions Court to hear celebrity preacher's sexual assault trial from July 24Next articleWife charged with hubby's murder in case that implicates Esscom officers Latest ArticlesPeople Attacked By Elephants At Indian Religion Festival 2025-01-08 People who drink coffee in the morning have an overall lower risk of death than those who don’t drink coffee or drink it all... 2025-01-08 Ramen shops, Japan’s representative common people’s food, are closing their businesses due to high prices 2025-01-08 Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg Announces Reform Of Content Management Rules To Remove Fact Checkers On His Platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Threads 2025-01-08 Senior users of Xiao Hongshu, the Chinese version of Instagram, will reach 30 million, and SNS will expand its senior citizens’ target service due... 2025-01-07 Danish king unveils new royal coat of arms highlighting self-governing Greenland and Faroe Islands 2025-01-07
