K-UNIV Report, opening its next chapter with new student members

In today’s academic society, not everything is black and white as homework and tests. Students participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities to stay ahead of others and to get ready for working in the real world. These activities include not only in-school activities such as sports and debate clubs but also activities offered by companies outside of the limited school campus. LA Times Asia Journal has been working with K-UNIV Report, its own extra-curricular organization, made up of only college students of Asia.

In January, Asia Journal started a new recruitment season. By early February, more than 90 students of South Korea had applied to be a part of the organization. On the 15th of February, K-UNIV Report made its first step for this year with brand new members. After a two-week process of student interviews, Asia Journal asked 12 students with different skills and positive attitudes to join the group.

K-UNIV Report’s goal for 2021 is to create original online content such as YouTube videos of exclusive interviews, blog posts, and ‘card news’. Card news is a unique way of news layout, optimized for social media, that tells a news story or article with both images and text. The topic that the student group will touch on will be about any trends or the hot topics of the student community of South Korea and about the incubating companies of LA Times Asia Journal such as Infomining and Skin Watchers. The new members will get to experience conducting interviews with companies’ CEOs and producing their own work by working with other teammates and reporters of Asia Journal. With this set of new members of K-UNIV, Asia Journal hopes to expand its reach to the younger online audience while providing the student members with valuable experiences that can be useful in future endeavors.
